Estelle Shircore Barker is a London-based Australian pianist establishing a growing reputation for artistic excellence, both as a soloist and collaborative musician.

Having performed internationally as a soloist across Europe and Australia, Estelle gave her concerto debut performing Liszt’s Piano Concerto No. 1 with the Narva Symphony Orchestra. She has performed as a soloist in venues such as the Melbourne Recital Centre and Ateneo de Madrid, and she maintains an active career as a recitalist across Europe and Australia. Recent engagements include concerts in England, Scotland, Italy and Australia.

As a chamber musician, Estelle has performed alongside members of the grammy-nominated St. Petersburg Quartet in both Tallinn and Narva in Estonia. Her performances touring Australia with the Forelle Ensemble were described by Limelight as “tremendously polished.” In the realm of song, she was awarded 2nd place in the Sydney International Song Prize, and was recently selected as a SongEasel Young Artist. Estelle’s work with singers has also led to a keen interest in repetiteurship, resulting in engagements with groups such as Sydney Philharmonia Choirs. From 2025 – 2026 she served as Young Artist Repetiteur for the Accademia dell’Opera Italiana, and the upcoming season sees engagements with Uncovered Opera and OperAffinity, in collaboration with the Aspen Music Festival and the National Opera Studio. Uniting these interests, Estelle was engaged as Music Director for the Tait Memorial Foundation’s ‘Jewel of the Strand’ concert at St. Mary Le Strand, London. As a collaborative artist, her practice has been guided by figures such as Malcom Martineau, Richard Stokes and Adrian Brendel.

Estelle also performs as an orchestral pianist, most recently joining the Royal Academy of Music Symphony Orchestra for performances of Prokofiev’s 5th Symphony with Ryan Bancroft in London at the Duke’s Hall and in Snape Maltings as part of the renowned Aldeburgh Festival.

Estelle has been a prize winner of both national and international competitions and the recipient of numerous scholarships, including the George Henderson Postgraduate Scholarship, the Myron Kantor Bequest, the Brian Abel Scholarship, and more.

Estelle has undertaken masterclasses with renowned artists such as Dmitri Alexeev, Sandra Shapiro and Thomas Hecht. Following formative studies in Munich with Alexandra Troussova, Estelle went on to become a prize-winning graduate of the Sydney Conservatorium. During her time in Sydney, Estelle studied with Clemens Leske, and was awarded numerous significant academic prizes and scholarships. She graduated with a Bachelor of Music with Honours. In 2023, Estelle relocated to Madrid to embark on developing her international performance career and undertake intensive pianistic studies with Nikolai Demidenko, supported by the Henderson Postgraduate Piano Scholarship. Most recently, Estelle was awarded a Master of Arts with Distinction from the Royal Academy of Music in London, where she studied under the guidance of Tatiana Sarkissova, and was supported by the Tait Memorial Foundations’ Eugenie White Award.

Whilst based in Madrid, Estelle learned Spanish and deepened her interest in academic research, completing a Master’s in Musicology at the International University of Valencia. Her thesis examined Clara Schumann’s role as muse in the works of Schumann and Brahms, reframing the muse as a complex, reciprocal and evolving figure through historical, biographical and musical analysis. The research highlighted overlooked forms of female artistic participation and explored how artistic, cultural and emotional forces intertwine to shape music. This awareness of how music exists within and responds to the world informs Estelle’s own programming, which balances canonical masterpieces with sustained, thoughtful efforts to bring neglected compositional voices to life through her artistic practice.

Estelle believes firmly in advocating for the importance of music education and is a passionate piano teacher. Having been awarded the Licentiate of the Royal Academy of Music (LRAM) with Distinction, she was selected in 2025 as a Benedetti Foundation Ambassador, reflecting her ongoing commitment to exceptional music education. Alongside her instrumental teaching, Estelle has held a tertiary post as lecturer at the Escuela Superior Musical Arts (Madrid), and tutored musicology and analysis through The Women's College at the University of Sydney.
